CapyLater Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 14, 2026
Developer: Lattice AI Inc. ("we")
Contact: emma@latticeai.dev
In short: CapyLater has no accounts and no servers. Everything you save stays on your device. We do not collect, store, sell or share your personal information, and the app contains no advertising or analytics tools.
1. Information we collect
We do not collect any personal information. CapyLater does not send what you save, your photos, or how you use the app to us or to anyone acting for us. We have no way to see your data.
2. Information the app keeps on your device
To work, the app stores the following only on your device (in the app's own storage and the storage it shares with its Share extension):
- Links, text and images you save, and notes and categories you add
- Copies of screenshots you bring in, and the text read from them
- Previews of saved links (title, description, image) and article text for reading mode
- Place details found in saved links (name, address, coordinates)
- Results of photo-library analysis (file sizes, groups of similar photos, image-quality scores)
- App settings, including language, map app choice, free-trial start date and purchase status
This data may be included in your device backups (iCloud Backup or a computer backup) depending on your own iPhone settings. Those backups are handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy, not by us.
3. Photos
If you allow access to your photo library, the app uses it to:
- bring in your screenshots and read the text in them,
- find large videos, duplicate, burst, similar and blurry photos so you can clear them,
- show thumbnails, add photos to albums you choose, and delete photos you choose.
All analysis (text recognition, similarity, quality) runs on your device using Apple's built-in frameworks. Photos are never uploaded. Photos are deleted only after you confirm in the iOS dialog, and deleted photos stay in "Recently Deleted" for 30 days. Photos stored only in iCloud are not downloaded for analysis; a full-size copy is loaded only when you open a photo to view it larger.
4. Connections the app makes
The app has no server of its own. To show what you saved, it connects directly from your device to:
- The websites of links you save, to get their title, preview image and article text.
- Social media sites (such as X, Instagram, Threads, TikTok and YouTube), through their public preview or embed addresses, for posts you save.
- Map services (Apple Maps, Google Maps, Naver Map, Kakao Map), to look up places in links you save and to draw small map images.
Like any web request, these connections reveal your device's IP address and basic browser information to those services. They receive only the link or place being looked up — never your other saved items. Each service handles that information under its own privacy policy.
When you open a link, the page opens in Safari's in-app browser or in the related app (for example, a map or social media app). When you use "Ask AI" or "Share", the content you chose is passed to the app you pick through the iOS share sheet; that app's privacy policy applies.
5. Clipboard
To offer a "Paste link" shortcut, the app checks whether your clipboard contains a link without reading it. Clipboard contents are read only when you tap the system Paste button.
6. Purchases and free trial
Purchases and the free trial are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never receive your payment details. The app checks your purchase status on the device using Apple's StoreKit.
7. Diagnostics
We do not use crash-reporting or analytics tools. If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone settings, Apple may provide us with anonymous crash reports. These do not identify you.
8. Backup files
If you create a backup in Settings › Backup, the app makes a file that contains your saved data and images. You choose where to keep it (for example, Files, iCloud Drive or another device). We do not receive the file. Keep it somewhere safe, as anyone with the file can read its contents.
9. Keeping and deleting your data
Your data stays on your device until you delete it. You can delete items in the app at any time. Deleting the app deletes all of its data from the device (copies in your own backups or backup files remain until you delete them). Because we hold no data, there is nothing for us to delete on a server, and no account to close.
10. Children
CapyLater is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect information from children. We collect no information from anyone.
11. Your rights
Laws such as the GDPR (EU/UK), the CCPA (California), the Personal Information Protection Act (Korea) and the Act on the Protection of Personal Information (Japan) give you rights to access, correct, delete or stop the processing of your personal information. Because we do not collect or hold personal information, all of your data is already under your control on your device. If you have any question, contact us at emma@latticeai.dev.
We do not sell or share personal information, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
12. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the effective date above. If a change affects how the app handles your information, we will also tell you in the app.
